Maintaining Your Hunnyball Set: Tips for Longevity
Dec 06, 2024
Your Hunnyball set is built to handle fast-paced, competitive action from backyard rivalries to gym class scrimmages. And while it's made to be durable, a little ongoing care can make all the difference when it comes to long-term performance. Whether you’re playing at the beach, in a school gym, or in your yard, here’s how to keep your Hunnyball set in top condition season after season.
1. Clean It Regularly
After a long game, especially outdoors, your equipment can collect grass, sand, or dirt. Gently wiping down the ball, board, and boundary ropes with a soft cloth and mild soap helps prevent build-up and keeps everything looking sharp. For sand-heavy days at the beach, give everything a quick rinse and let it dry fully before packing it away.
2. Avoid Extended Sun Exposure
Hunnyball was made for sunny days! And it has been sealed with a water resistant, UV-ray protection sealant. But we still recommend not leaving it in direct sunlight for days on end so the graphics and color don’t fade and the ropes and other components don’t fade or weaken as well over time. When you’re taking a break or finished for the day, store the set in the shade or pack it back into the included carrying case. This will help preserve the board surface and rope color and tension for the long haul.
3. Don’t Leave It Outside Overnight
Morning dew and unexpected weather can impact your set’s longevity. Even if it doesn’t rain, moisture from overnight humidity can warp the wood material if it happens repeatedly. Get in the habit of bringing your set inside after each use, just like you would with any other piece of sports equipment.
4. Check For Wear And Tear
Regularly inspect the components for scuffs, cracks, or fraying. The ball might show signs of wear faster than other pieces, especially with high-frequency use, and should be replaced if it’s affecting gameplay. Tighten any loose screws or hardware on the board and keep an eye on the ropes for fraying.
5. Store it properly
The Hunnyball set comes with a custom carrying case for a reason, use it! Keeping everything packed together ensures you’re not losing pieces, tangling rope, or causing unnecessary stress to the board. Store your packed set in a cool, dry place to avoid damage from heat or moisture.
Bonus Tip: Rotate play surfaces
If possible, don’t always play on the same patch of ground. Concrete is great for stability, but rough on equipment. Mix it up with grass or turf when possible to extend the life of your board and ball.
With just a few simple habits, you can make sure your Hunnyball set stays in championship-ready shape for years. Whether you're a weekend warrior, gym teacher, or camp director, a little care goes a long way. These sets are built to last, so care for them like they'll care for you!
